Talisman: Single Pendant
Talisman: Single Pendant
A talisman is a very special object, believed to possess magical powers and intended to empower the wearer, bringing good luck. This one-of-a-kind assemblage pendant is created from treasured natural and found materials, stitched together onto a forged copper backing which is riveted to a thin sheet of brass on the back. It is created to be worn as a necklace with its thick black leather cord and forged findings. It measures 5” from the top of the pendant to the bottom of the pheasant feather and is about 2 1/4” wide. Materials include barks, forged copper and brass with sealed patina, found objects ( wire, screening, rusty ring with screw eye…), curly willow twig, turquoise beads, pheasant and turkey feathers, brass and glass beads, all stitched to the bark, then to the copper foundation, with waxed linen thread. Lastly, it was riveted to a thin forged sheet of brass to protect clothing. The robust 10 mm thick black leather cord with hand fabricated findings suspends the pendant that sits below the breast bone when worn measuring almost 34” in length.
